Location
Nested in the Appennines mountains in a part of Tuscany looking over Emilia Romagna, at an altitude of 900 mt and a 10 min. drive from Pian del Voglio, the nearest exit of the motorway A1. Restaurant farmhouse Il Passeggere is ideal for a quick stopover, a long break or a good lunch and a regenerating sleep while trekking on the Via degli dei path which goes through our property. Our farmhouse is within a 0 minutes drive from the Futa Pass and the German war cemetery, and only 2 minutes from the town of Bruscoli. Il Passeggere has been a passageway since ancient times between Tuscany and the north, hence the name Passeggere.
Our Restaurant
Our restaurant Il Passeggere is open during the week upon reservation. Our chefs, members of the Italian Chefs Federation (FIC), Ana and Orlando will prepare typical tuscan dishes, homemade fresh pasta, meat and cold cuts from our Cinta Senese pig farm, game from our hunting grounds and amazing desserts made each with genuine ingredients.
The restaurant will welcome you in two open rooms, charming and cozy, with their typical rural style and materials adapted from the previous use as barn and stable. Ideal for groups and weekend getaways in the countryside.

La Via degli Dei
The Via degli Dei is a very popular path connecting the cities of Bologna and Florence across the Appennines and the Mugello valley. Il Passeggere lays along the path and is considered by many, (unofficially even bythe author of one of the most popular guides), as the best place to stop and eat on the Via degli Dei. This path overlaps in many places with an ancient Roman road, the Flaminia Militare, discovered in the 70's by two amateur archaeologists Franco Santi e Cesare Agostini (http://www.flaminiamilitare.it/Home.html). The Via degli Dei crosses our property from before Piana degli Ossi until Banditacce, the highest point of the Vdd with 1200 m/asl. You can get to the agriturismo following a dirt road at Passetto del Passeggere (ancient crossroad) going down towards the Santuario di Bocca di Rio on the Via Mater Dei, for 600 mt.
There are no unearthed traces of the roman road on our property, but the area is catalogued as Archaeological park due to the presence of the Piana degli Ossi (marsh of bones). The white limestone surfacing the grounds and scattered all around was thought to be old bones remainings, hence the name. In rality the two archaeologists discovered five roman ovens dedicated to the production of limestone right on the ridge.
Passetto del Passeggere (little pass of the traveller), has always been considered an important appenninic crossing. In proximity of Banditacce there are a few openings on the ridge of the woods known as Pianacci (bad plains), here you can find a refreshing water spring and a table to cool off during the summer. On top of the Banditacce during WWII the Germans had set up excavated trenches to protect the Gothic Line. In the hunting estate and our property, camping and lighting of fires is not allowed for safety reasons.
